Jo worked in the NHS for over 40 years in clinical and then managerial roles with an emphasis on service quality and innovation designed to improve patients’ experience of the NHS. In the last Labour administration Jo was a member of a national team supported by the Prime Minister’s Delivery Unit where the focus was on ensuring that patients received care and treatment as quickly and as efficiently as possible. Starting with A&E Departments, then cancer care and then elective care (planned, non-emergency treatment) including diagnostics (X-rays, CT scans etc). Waiting times were significantly reduced for all these areas of care; and patient satisfaction in the NHS was at an all time high. Jo’s last job in the NHS was working across the whole of London to continue this work and to continue to look for ways of improving patient access and experience. With the change to a Conservative administration this all became increasingly difficult, if not impossible, and Jo left the NHS in 2018.

Jo and her husband moved from London to Wiltshire in 2024. Jo does voluntary work for Love Marlborough Kids Meals (originally set up by Kymee Cleasby) and as a School Reader at a local primary school.

Jo has always been a supporter of the Liberal Democrats, starting with the Social Democratic Party and continuing as an active Liberal Democrat in South West London. The constituency Jo supported in London returned a Lib Dem MP (Paul Kohler) in 2024. Jo is proud to support the seven core values of the Liberal Democrats and is so pleased to have found a new and welcoming Liberal Democrat community in East Wiltshire.
