Marlborough Lib Dems Call for help for hospitality within Marlborough

Liberal Democrats for Marlborough have asked for councillors to consider easing restrictions on outdoor spaces for hospitality businesses within the town

They are asking for a simplified application process to help local Marlborough hospitality businesses to apply to make the best use of outdoor space. Permitting them to increase their potential offering of additional chairs and tables, is urgently needed. Marlborough's famous wide high street makes this particularly feasible

Pubs, cafes, restaurants and hotels across England have been closed since late March but they are allowed to re-open on 4 July whilst adhering to social distancing guidance.

As social distancing restrictions will mean less available space, we ask the council to invite businesses to submit proposals for additional outdoor seating. This is already being done successfully in Berkshire.

Businesses would usually only be issued a pavement café licence once planning approval had been granted. However, a new temporary 3-month pavement café licence could be issued, after which time, planning approval could be applied for.
